Delays expected at JNPT Port, Mumbai

Jun 22 | 2011

JNPT (Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust) port in Mumbai is commissioning new rail mounted quayside cranes.  As a result the JNPT has issued revised instructions for handling vessels during the installation of the three new cranes at the main container berth (JNPCT) at Nhava Sheva, Mumbai.

Significant berthing delays and disruption in operations is anticipated as two berths at JNPT will be virtually non-functional for close to two months, from 20 June, 2011.

JNPT has also indicated the names of the vessels which cannot be handled at JNPCT during the material period.

The other two terminals in Nhava Sheva (GTI and NSICT) will continue normal operations unless of course the monsoon rains or other factors cause issues.
