The DVSA’s latest figures suggest that most lorry drivers will have completed their 35 hours’ periodic training by the 10 September deadline.
Current figures show that over 800,000 drivers are doing or have done Driver CPC, with over 564,000 now having completed their 35 hours’ training. Over 1.1 million hours of training were logged in July alone.
Training deadline
Lorry drivers with 'acquired rights' must finish their first round of Driver CPC periodic training by 10 September 2014 or risk being fined or even losing their livelihood if they don't finish their training in time.
No excuses for not being aware
DVSA's Chief Executive Alastair Peoples said, "DVSA enforcement officers already routinely check the Driver CPC status of professional drivers. After the deadline they’ll be able to check whether ‘acquired rights’ lorry drivers have completed their training or are driving illegally. Not being aware of Driver CPC is not an excuse for drivers or operators and there will be no amnesty period."
