UK’s biggest ship docks in Southampton

Jun 01 | 2015

The CMA CGM Kerguelen, the world’s largest containership sailing under a UK flag, will call in to Southampton on 13 May 2015 for the first time.   The vessel has a length of 1,305 ft. (398m), a width of 177 ft. (54m), and a capacity of 17,722 TEU.  If all the containers were lined up they would stretch the distance between London and Southampton.

This is the first of a series of six vessels of the same size that will be delivered in 2015.  The vessel is named after the famous 18th century French navigator Yves Joseph de Kerguelen de Trémarec.
