The British Association of Removers (BAR) has developed a series of Driver CPC courses for BAR members and non-members alike.
The courses have been specially designed for drivers in the moving industry. Drivers only have until 9 September, 2019 to complete their required 35 hours training.
Stephen Thorp, BAR Training Manager, said that he was concerned that some companies were, once again, leaving their DCPC training until the last minute. “We will be in the 2018 busy season at least until October and the 2019 season will kick off again in April,” he said. “That only gives a few months for everyone to get all their drivers trained to the required level without it impacting on the 2019 summer period.” He added that if they leave it too late drivers might find that their preferred courses are not available and some training organisations might increase their prices as the deadline approaches.
The BAR DCPC courses are delivered through its Approved Training Centers around the UK. They have been written for the moving industry and are delivered by experienced removals people. The courses available are as follows:
- DCPC: Removals Driver: Preparation, Loading and Delivering Moves (14hrs) - Looking at a driver’s role from leaving the depot to the customer, loading the vehicle, customer interaction, risk assessments, unloading, etc.
- DCPC: Removals Driver: Manual Handling and Furniture Handling (7hrs) - Tailored specifically for furniture handling.
- DCPC: Removals Driver: Customer Service and Company Image (7hrs) - Focussing on how to treat customers.
- DCPC: Removals Driver: Health & Safety in the Workplace (7 hrs) - Designed specifically for the removals and storage industry.
- DCPC: Removals Driver: Driver Hours, Tachographs & Vehicle Checks (7 hrs) - Driver specific training for the moving industry.
- DCPC: Emergency First Aid at Work (7 hrs) - What to do if someone is taken ill or you are first on the scene at an accident.
