Santa Fe 2019 Global Mobility Survey

This year,
Santa Fe Relocation has partnered with a number of the world’s leading organisations and thinkers in mobility whose views are captured in the report through a series of comments and quotes.

Last year’s survey explored why and how organisations and global mobility teams needed to act and embrace change in global mobility. This year’s ‘Revision’ focusses on what transformation still needs to be done to ensure that global mobility remains a relevant and sustainable contributor to the deployment of internationally mobile employees. The 2019 survey also highlights an opportunity for internal and external stakeholders, such as HR professionals and business leaders, to better understand not only current roles of global mobility professionals but also the potential future contribution that global mobility can represent to organisational development.

The report includes a range of hot topics such as 2019 emerging talent trends, transformation of the global mobility profession, and how global mobility manages risk.

Key highlights from the 2019 Global Mobility Survey, called REVISION: Mobility through the looking glass, include:

  • 70% of businesses initiated short-term assignments in 2018 and 63% of business initiated long-term assignments;
  • 32% of all assignees are female;
  • 61% of global mobility teams are planning to invest in new technology over the next 24 months;
  • 40% of global mobility teams relocated staff to new destinations in the past 12 months;
  • 65% of global mobility teams have an immigration programme in place to ensure their business travellers are compliant.

Commenting on the findings, Gregoire Pinton, Chief Commercial Officer, Santa Fe Relocation, said: Each year we’re impressed by the level of insights and interest generated by the survey. Our findings are key to the industry; therefore, we continue to seek out what’s new and interesting – identifying trends and getting beneath them to understand why something is happening. It is important for us as a company to stay at the leading edge of thought leadership, we use it as well to ensure our services react/evolve to meet our customers’ changing needs, helping them seize opportunities and respond decisively to market change.”

The survey will be followed by a series of webinars and whitepapers produced throughout the year by Santa Fe Relocation’s consulting team, ensuring that partners and customers are kept on top of trends.

The 2019 Global Mobility Survey is an independent study commissioned by Santa Fe Relocation and it is one of the world’s largest and most robust studies of global mobility worldwide. The research was conducted by Savanta: 703 professionals responsible for global mobility programmes across 35 countries were surveyed, along with 53 business leaders from six countries and territories: the UK, US, France, Denmark, Singapore and Hong Kong.
