General strike expected in Italy on 6 September, 2011.
According to the latest FEDEMAC newsflash, a general strike is expected to take place in Italy tomorrow, 6 September, for a period of 8 hours. FEDEMAC says that it’s difficult to predict participation as only the largest union, CGIL, has confirmed the strike while all others have apparently abstained. During the strike, newspapers will not be edited and public transport will be affected as there is no indication of which buses, trains or aeroplanes will or will not operate. With such short notice nobody can predict the impact as it’s not known who will participate, however the strike itself has been confimed. The Mover thanks FEDEMAC for the information.
