Driving Regulation Changes in Hungary

A new driving regulations code in Hungary came into effect on July 1, 2011.

New regulations governing police vehicle stops are now in effect in Hungary, having come into force on July 1, 2011.

According to the new code, officers will now be able to issue on-the-spot fines of between 10,000 HUF and 300,000 HUF for traffic offences such as speeding, driving under the influence, non-observance of a stop sign and failure to wear a safety-belt.

The regulations apply to all motorists, both Hungarian drivers and resident or visiting foreigners.
