Port strike in LA ends

Dec 06 | 2012

An eight-day strike at the ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles ended yesterday (5 December).  The strike had paralysed the country’s busiest port.

Although the 600 clerical workers represented by the International Longshore and Warehouse Union won only modest increases in wage and pension benefits over a four-year contract they did obtain guarantees that their jobs won’t be outsourced to China and elsewhere.
