Today, 20 September 2013, Maarten van Zutphen, from Noble Relocation in The Netherlands, and 25 friends are embarking on an off-road cycle tour in Namibia in aid of Orange Babies in the country.
They will use mountain bikes to ride around 60km a day over five days. The purpose is to raise funds to help children of HIV infected mothers from acquiring the virus. Marten says that every EUR 100 will save a child.
“Usually, sponsoring is done at a distance, and one will not truly know or experience the process and the outcome of the hard work that has been done,” said Maarten. “This is my chance to contribute, as well as see and experience the projects we support.”
In the southern area of Africa, HIV-aids continued to be a major problem. For the last 13 years Orange Babies has worked to tackle the problem. For example, in Soweto, the transfer of HIV from mother to child has reduced from 30% to 2%.
Anyone wishing to sponsor Maarten in his quest should just send him and e-mail message via the website www.noble-mobility.com/en/orange-babies-sponsorpagina.asp with the amount they wish to contribute, and he will forward a charity invoice. Maarten will be posting blogs to let all contributors know how he’s getting on.
