Beijing traffic restrictions

Oct 29 | 2014

Beijing, China has been assigned as the chairmanship of APEC, so the Chinese government has imposed traffic restriction between the period of November 3-12, 2014.

Beijing traffic restrictionsThe traffic restriction will only allow trucks to be running between 12am and 6am.  In addition, the odd and even number rule applies to trucks running between 3am and 6am.  For example, license plates ending with an odd number are allowed to drive on November 3, 5, 7, 9, 11 and license plates ending with an even number are allowed to drive on November 4, 6, 8, 10, 12.

Apart from the traffic restrictions, the Chinese government has suggested that all schools and government organizations take leave from November 7-12 and to work from November 2-6 and November 13-15.  Beijing customs have not announced if they will follow the government’s recommendation.

Many compounds in Beijing will not allow loading and delivery between 12am and 6am and delays will be expected for all shipments in and out of Beijing.

If an assignee requires an urgent pack out or delivery during this period, additional costs will be incurred and will be quoted on a per case basis. It is strongly suggested that packing or delivery between November 3-12 is avoided.  However, storage, container demurrage and port stage will be applicable.
