UK National Living Wage increases in April

From 1 April, 2022, the UK National Living Wage will increase by 6.6% from £8.91 to £9.50/hour.

This is in line with the Low Pay Commission’s (LPC) recommendations for the rates of the National Minimum Wage (NMW) and National Living Wage (NLW).  This figure relates to people over the age of 23 years.  Other rates are: £9.18/hr for ages 21022; £6.83/hr for ages 18-20; £4.81hr for ages 16-17 and apprentices.

From 3 April, 2022, the statutory rate for maternity pay, paternity pay, shared parental pay, adoption pay, parental bereavement pay and sick pay will rise from £151.97 to £156.66, or 90% of the employee’s average weekly earnings, whichever is lower.
