The BBC has awarded Surrey-based Restore Records Management with a contract to manage more than 10 million archive assets.

The contract, with a total value of £22m, is for an initial 10 years and includes 74,000 linear metres of archive assets, consisting of audio, moving images, photographic stills, vinyl, and sheet music collected over the last century.

Services provided will include secure storage, environmental controls, retrievals, and audit tracking.

Restore’s preparation work included enhancing an existing Restore facility with dedicated temperature-controlled vaults to help maintain strict environmental conditions.

Working closely with Harrow Green - Restore’s relocation arm - the project also includes a fully integrated package to plan, manage and migrate the archive collections from the BBC’s existing facility to their new home.
