Bournes Moves has strengthened its European removals operation with the addition of three new DAF XD trucks, marking a significant investment in the company’s ability to deliver flexible, efficient, and customer-focused services between the UK and mainland Europe.

The new Bournes trucksThe latest-generation Euro 6 vehicles, fitted with 60 cubic metre, five-pallet bodies built by SBR in Preston, have been chosen to meet the changing demands of post-Brexit European moves. With consignments becoming smaller and groupage operations more complex, the new trucks provide a middle ground between larger drawbar trailers and smaller vans. This flexibility allows Bournes to handle diverse move sizes while optimising efficiency and reducing environmental impact.

Safety and crew wellbeing were central to the investment. The trucks meet London’s four-star Direct Vision Standard and feature full surround cameras, pedestrian visibility enhancements, and air-ride suspension. Inside, drivers benefit from fridges, microwaves, upgraded bedding and increased storage, ensuring comfort on long journeys - particularly where facilities are limited.

Supplied by Channel Commercials of Ashford, the trucks join Bournes’ mixed fleet of vans and larger vehicles, operating from depots across the Southeast. The network is strategically located close to Folkestone and Dover, ensuring fast, reliable access to Europe.

Bournes, founded in 1875 and still family-owned, provides services to France, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Belgium, the company is ready to deliver even more for Europe.
