The topic of AI has been discussed in the moving industry for a couple of years.  Anyone who attended the IAM conference in Las Vegas last October, for example,  would have had the opportunity of joining in educational sessions designed to enlighten everyone on the possibilities of this extraordinary technology that will, no doubt, rule all our lives before long.

But the articles and seminars have all been a bit high-brow for me.  I have read them and joined in with them and, quite frankly, have come away knowing little more than when I went in.  It always seems to me that the writers and presenters assume a level of innate understanding that I don’t have.  I am sure many other people feel the same.

So, when Oscar Pais contacted me, I was interested.  Oscar Pais has a moving background.  Having arrived in the UK from Portugal he worked as a packer and driver, prepared quotes, took a franchise in Two Men and a Truck and, most recently, spent ten years working with Eagle Relocations. Having left the sharp-end of the industry he retrained to focus on AI and, more specifically, what it could do for the moving industry.  His company is called, simply, Relo AI.

While talking to him I explained my problem.  If I was going to write something about his new venture, I would need him to cut through all the technology and just explain to me what AI can do for movers to make their lives easier and their businesses more profitable.  I had asked others before to do the same thing, without success.  But this time was different.  This time Oscar took three topics and explained in words that even I could understand, exactly where AI fitted in.  For the first time, AI made sense for me ...
