Patrick Hicks talks to Rahul Vekaria, Managing Director of Amax Digital Marketing Ltd, about his background - and how he established and developed the company.

Patrick Hicks: Rahul, tell us about your background and how Amax Marketing came about.Rahul Vekaria, Amex Marketing

Rahul Vekaria: I built my first website over 30 years ago to make pocket money for a holiday. That side project became a passion, especially SEO. I later joined an agency - I was the third employee and saw it grow to 250 people worldwide in eight years, which gave me the confidence to go out on my own. With the support of Amax Fire & Security, Amax Marketing was born. We’ve now been running for four years.

Patrick Hicks: What was the thinking behind setting up Amax Marketing?

Rahul Vekaria: I saw a big gap in how service-based businesses approached marketing. I showed the founder of Amax Fire & Security some Google data, and his reaction was “there’s something here”. Too many businesses had no idea how their website was performing or what SEO, PPC and social media could do for them. That was the spark – giving companies clarity and a strategy they could trust.

Patrick Hicks: Why did you decide to focus on the moving and storage sector?

Rahul Vekaria: First, we’re local SEO specialists. In storage, customers don’t want to travel far, so ranking high for “self storage in [location]” is critical. We know how to get operators into those top positions, especially in Google Maps. Second, through Amax Fire & Security we already worked with storage sites, so we understood operators cared most about two things: security and leads. Our vision was to be a one-stop shop, helping owners grow enquiries while keeping facilities safe. On top of that, our team includes people who’ve worked on one of the biggest storage sites in the country, so we know first-hand what it takes to compete. Our slogan says it all: we get you up the ranks, so you get seen, and that leads to growth.

Patrick Hicks: What are the main marketing challenges you see movers and storage operators facing?

Rahul Vekaria: AI is the big one. Google has announced a £5bn investment in AI in the UK, and it will change how people search for services ...
