Patrick Hicks talks to Alexandra Foulger-Lane, Chair of the BAR's Young Mover Group, about her background - and the work and plans of the YMG
Patrick Hicks: Alexandra, to start, could you tell us a little about your professional background and how you first became involved in the storage and removals industry?
Alexandra Foulger-Lane: After college, I wasn’t quite sure what direction I wanted my career to go, so I joined the family business full time to earn a bit of cash whilst I considered my options. 10 years later I’m still here and now a third-generation director of the family business, Lanes Storage and Removals LTD (t/a Britannia Lanes). Patrick Hicks: For those who may not be familiar, what are the main aims and objectives of the Young Movers Group within the BAR?
Alexandra Foulger-Lane: The Young Movers Group exists to support, connect and inspire younger professionals working in the removals and storage industry. We want to create opportunities for younger members and those starting their careers in our industry, to learn from one another, share best practice, and recognise that removals is an exciting and stable career path. Ultimately, it’s about developing future leaders and ensuring the long-term success and sustainability of our sector ...
