Intermovers Malaysia packs artefacts for major London exhibition

Intermovers Malaysia has recently packed and shipped a large air shipment of Islamic artefacts to the British Museum in London to form part of the exhibition at the Albukhary Foundation Gallery that opened on 18 October, 2018.

The packing of the artefacts, dating from 7th century AD to the present, was handled under the close supervision of James Andrew, Intermovers CEO and Shirish Karun, Business Development for Intermovers Malaysia. Being a white-glove operation, with such ornate and delicate objects that required special packing and crating, the operation took seven days to complete. Artefacts being packed in Kuala Lumpur prior to shipping.

The exhibition is a comprehensive presentation of the Islamic world through art and material culture. Islam has played a significant role in great civilisations as a faith, political system and culture. The new gallery features objects that give an overview of cultural exchange in an area stretching from Nigeria to Indonesia such as: cooking pots, golden vessels, 20th-century dress and contemporary art. The place and role of other faiths and communities - including Christians, Jews and Hindus - will be reflected throughout the gallery, showing their significant contributions to the social, economic and cultural life of the Islamic world.

Julian Wilkinson, International Mover Specialist with Intermovers Malaysia commented: “It was a very proud moment for Intermovers Malaysia to have been entrusted with such a special shipment with the artefacts being irreplaceable and significant in Islamic history.”
