Plans for 2021 FIDI Conference in Vienna suspended

Jun 10 | 2021

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to create havoc across the world, FIDI has been monitoring the developments very closely.

In light of the latest available information, the FIDI Board has taken the decision to suspend the preparations for the 2021 FIDI Conference, scheduled to take place in Vienna at the end of August.

FIDI said that this decision was taken after long deliberation and with a heavy heart. FIDI President Ebru Demirel said: “After more than a year of remote working, we are all craving to travel and meet friends and colleagues again. However, due to the uncertain developments of the worldwide pandemic, the FIDI Board feels that it is impossible to guarantee the health and safety of all attendees and to allow everybody an equal opportunity to attend the FIDI Conference.  The annual conference is our community’s main occasion for joyful celebration and meaningful connections. In the current context of global uncertainty, the Board feels that it would be impossible to offer a great experience, worthy of a true FIDI Conference. The FIDI team is now putting all its energy and efforts into making next year’s conference in Cannes unforgettable.”

FIDI will continue to create online opportunities to keep in touch until then.
