Crown marks ESG progress

Sep 22 | 2025

Crown Worldwide Group has published its 2025 Sustainability Report, showcasing significant environmental, social and governance (ESG) achievements across its operations in 43 countries, while setting ambitious goals for the years ahead.

Crown Sustainability Report websiteCovering its performance in 2024, the report details Crown’s alignment with leading global frameworks including the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), UN Global Compact, and the Greenhouse Gas Protocol.

A key milestone was the Board’s formal commitment to set Science-Based Targets (SBTi), placing Crown among a growing number of companies taking data-driven climate action. Partnering with carbon accounting platform Normative, Crown mapped Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions globally, enabling the creation of country-level carbon reduction plans for the first time.

The results are already tangible: a 16% cut in total carbon footprint and a 14% reduction in purchased electricity and heating from a 2022 baseline, achieved through renewable energy adoption and energy-efficiency upgrades.

Circular economy initiatives are gaining pace, particularly via the Crown Workspace brand. In 2024, more than 27,000 items of office furniture and IT equipment were refurbished at Crown’s Renew Centres, avoiding an estimated 2,000 tonnes of CO₂e. The company also opened its first Renew Centre in Asia, located in Singapore. Waste reporting was expanded to cover 90% of branches, revealing a 95% landfill diversion rate from 10,777 tonnes generated.

Crown’s progress earned it a Bronze Medal from EcoVadis - an 18-point improvement year-on-year - placing it in the top 13% globally in its sector. Regional operations excelled further, with New Zealand and the UK & Ireland securing Gold and Silver Medals respectively.

ESG is increasingly embedded in company culture. In 2024, 84% of computer users completed Carbon Awareness training and 76% undertook the in-house Carbon Action course. A new Sustainable Procurement Policy now ensures ESG principles guide purchasing decisions across the supply chain.

Marking its 60th anniversary, Crown launched the Giving Back Together initiative, delivering DEI training to 1,431 employees, creating 97 mentoring pairs, and boosting labour and human rights ratings.

Group ESG Director Joy Lam said: “From science-based targets to circular economy innovation, we’re proud of the progress made, but we’re also clear-eyed about the work ahead. Our focus now is on scaling impact and embedding sustainability into every part of our business.”
