On Sunday 30 June, 2013, Pound Gates and Sevatas have a team participating in the 37th Orwell Walk.
The team includes staff, friends, families and business connections. The walk begins and finishes at Gainsborough Sports Centre, Ipswich offering a choice of 12, 18 or 25 miles. For the team of over 70 walkers, who have a range of ages and fitness levels, the walk offers a challenge for everyone involved.
75% of the money raised will go to The Suffolk Foundation’s Pound Gates and Sevatas Fund and 25% to the Ipswich East Rotary Club who is the organiser of the event.
Rob Appleton, Pound Gates' Marketing Manager, said: "Looking back over my short 30-year life span I have come to realise I have never walked further than two miles. This is why cars were invented, and honestly – if it's further than two miles, I’m still driving it! Anyway, Lucia and I have decided to participate, we have committed to do the 12 miles so far, given that it still seems an obscene distance to walk. We now have a month of training left, and are definitely considering doing some!"
