Continental’s winter truck tyres grow in popularity

Jul 02 | 2013

An increasing number of transport companies are using Continental’s latest generation of winter tyres for heavy commercial vehicles.

In several European countries, the use of winter tyres on trucks is prescribed by law and in some cases there is a minimum tread depth requirement of 6 millimetres. Operators could be fined up to €5,000 if they fail to comply with winter tyre regulations.

Continental claims its Scandinavia winter tyre allow safe goods transport on ice and snow without having to put up with poor ride comfort, greater wear or increased fuel consumption. The tyre designs, which have been specially configured for their axle positions to guarantee optimum traction and directional control, are marked with a distinctive snowflake symbol on the sidewall.
