Impasse in negotiations over pay could lead to disruption on roads and at distribution hubs.
The main trade union representing French truck drivers, the CFDT, is threatening industrial action before Christmas following the breakdown in talks with employers over pay.
The union said: “Employers have turned a deaf ear to our demands. CFDT will now take action, which will have consequences well beyond the sector before the festive period.”
Previous disputes have seen the CFDT block roads and distribution hubs to further their demands.
