Simon Hood in the top 100 most influential people

Feb 05 | 2025

Simon Hood, owner of John Mason International (JMI), has been recognised as one of the UK’s Top 100 Most Influential People, according to Awards Intelligence.

Simon HoodThat puts him rubbing shoulders with the likes of adventurer Ben Fogle, England Rugby Union Captain Maro Itoje, journalist Natasha Kaplinsky and keep-fit man Joe Wicks.

In a LinkedIn post Simon was obviously shocked comparing himself to his fellow winners' glamorous lives, with his own “ensuring people’s boxes arrive safely halfway across the world”.  But he acknowledged that the award referred to more than just his “day job”.  “I've tried to lead with purpose supporting food banks, mentoring young people, and ensuring sustainability isn't just a buzzword in our industry. It's about creating something that goes beyond profit and contributes positively to the world.”

Commenting on the Awards Intelligence website, the judges explained more about why Simon had been chosen. “He is a visionary leader transforming the global removals industry,” they said. “Under his leadership, JMI has seen remarkable growth, with turnover increasing from £6.6 million to £13.5 million between 2020 and 2022, while overseas sales surged to £12.3 million. Simon’s strategic focus on international expansion, particularly in emerging markets like the UAE, led to an impressive 189% increase in business in that region. His emphasis on digital transformation has streamlined operations, improved customer experience and expanded the company’s global reach. Simon is also known for fostering a positive workplace culture. JMI has been named a Great Place to Work for two consecutive years. Additionally, in 2024 it ranked among the UK’s Best Workplaces in Manufacturing, Production, and Transportation, with 90% of employees praising the work environment. Simon’s commitment to leadership development is evident in his roles on the British Association of Removers Overseas Group Council and the International Association of Movers Leadership Alliance Council, where he mentors emerging industry leaders.”

Congratulations Simon.
