Call for clearer signage for electric vehicle charging sites

Feb 23 | 2025

The RHA (Road Haulage Association) in the UK has called for clearer signage for electric vehicle charging sites based on a poll on 8,268 AA (Automobile Association) members.

Chris Ashley (RHA)The poll said that three out of four (77%) prospective electric vehicle (EV) drivers believe signage around public chargers should turn green to help them stand out. More than half (51%) of respondents, who said they would consider buying an EV in the future, were in favour of chargers having totem pole pricing boards, similar to fuel forecourts. 52% of those polled supported charge point locations being included in built-in sat navs for petrol and diesel cars.

Chris Ashley, RHA Senior Policy lead, said: “Range anxiety continues to be an issue for many van operators. Clearer signage on where electric vehicle charging points are, and how much they cost to use, can help overcome these fears and boost the number of these vehicles on our roads.”
