‘Licence Check’ provides peace of mind for fleet operators

Logistics UK has introduced ‘Licence Check’ as a new module within its Vision Compliance Portal.

Licence CheckVision provides tools to assist operators in managing driver and vehicle compliance.  This new module, announced in May 2025 makes the most current DVLA data instantly available to operators giving them the peace of mind that their drivers are properly licenced to do their job.

DVLA data shows that more than 140,000 UK licence holders are currently banned from driving and research from RAC shows only 13% of drivers would voluntarily inform their employers about new penalty points. According to Logistics UK, this creates a situation where operators cannot be wholly confident about the compliance of their fleet and drivers and a managed process for checking driver licences is essential.

“Without checking driver licences, it is impossible to know whether a driver can legally operate a vehicle or whether they have accrued any penalty points or disqualifications,” explained Logistics UK Digital Development Director, Jemma James. “Our new ‘Licence Check’ module makes DVLA data instantly available across Vision dashboards removing the need for manual checking and preventing the risk of data duplication and data entry errors. At the moment, all DVLA registered licences can be checked and later in the year, ‘Licence Check will also include fitness to drive declarations and grey fleet checks (checks on employee-owned vehicles).”

“As more DVLA and government data becomes available digitally, such as Digital Driving licences, it’s important that wherever possible Logistics UK owns the technology that connects the source data with our platform,” added Jemma. “We already have a number of APIs with DVLA for vehicle MOT, tax and technical data and ‘Licence Check’ is the latest addition. We will continue to develop in line with our users’ requirements and expect more to come in time.”

Vision is currently used by hundreds of organisations across the country providing advanced analysis tools for all users including transport managers, compliance officers, drivers and directors.
