Moving greener - reducing the removal carbon footprint

As sustainability becomes a growing priority for both consumers and businesses, removals company Bishop’s Move is taking proactive steps to make moving more environmentally friendly.

An acre of woodland is planted for every corporate relocation

With a firm commitment to reducing waste and emissions, the company has introduced several initiatives to help customers relocate with lower environmental impact in 2025.

A key focus has been the elimination of single-use plastics from its removals and storage operations. Instead of traditional bubble wrap and plastic film, Bishop’s Move now uses unbleached wrapping paper and recyclable paper blankets to protect fragile items. Its durable cardboard boxes, made from sustainable materials, are reused multiple times before being recycled - helping to reduce waste without compromising on quality or protection.

The company’s vehicle fleet is also fully compliant with Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) standards, supporting cleaner air in cities such as London and Edinburgh. This ensures that every move - local or long-distance - is carried out with lower emissions.

The company has also partnered with the World Land Trust through its Bubbatree initiative, planting a tree for every move it completes. For larger corporate relocations, the company goes a step further by planting a full acre of woodland on behalf of its clients.

With these actions, Bishop’s Move is aiming to lead by example in the removals sector - offering customers a greener way to move without sacrificing service, efficiency or care. “As the industry evolves, sustainability is becoming a standard, not an exception,” says the company.
