David Wells steps down

David Wells OBE, Chief Executive of Logistics UK, stepped down as Chief Executive of Logistics UK at the end of July after a decade at the helm.

David Wells  Wells joined the organisation in 2009 as Finance Director before becoming Chief Executive in 2015. During his tenure, he oversaw major changes, including the rebrand from the Freight Transport Association to Logistics UK in 2020 and the adoption of a new corporate strategy, which has helped boost membership to a record 21,600 by spring 2025.

Wells guided the organisation through Brexit, the COVID-19 pandemic and border challenges, earning praise from President Phil Roe for his calm leadership and ability to engage across all levels. Awarded an OBE in 2022 for services to transport and logistics, Wells said: “Ten years at the helm have flown by … it is now right to hand the baton to the next leader.” A successor will be appointed later this year.
