The Biltmore Mayfair is set to become home to what it says is the UK’s “first luxury self-storage facility”, offering guests and local residents a secure space to store supercars, fine art, and vintage wines beneath the five-star hotel.
Following recent approval of planning permission, American self-storage group 1784 Holdings will transform a 42,000 sq ft former car park - closed since 2020 - into an “exclusive, high-end storage destination”. Scheduled to open next summer, the £15 million development will feature 593 climate-controlled units ranging from 10 to 300 square feet, with bespoke options for luxury vehicles.
Prices are expected to start at £90 per square foot per year. The site will share 24-hour security and CCTV with The Biltmore, ensuring maximum safety and discretion for clients.
Operations will be managed by Self Storage Concierge, which promises a “hospitality-standard experience” complete with a concierge-style reception. CEO Emil Sohrab says: “We’re already receiving inquiries for this space, which highlights the growing market for exclusive self-storage that goes beyond the traditional, functional model.”
Originally opened in 2019 under Hilton’s LXR Hotels & Resorts brand, The Biltmore has since transitioned to independent ownership under Millennium & Copthorne Hotels’ luxury portfolio.
