John Mason International, one of the UK’s longest-established international moving companies, is embarking on a major relocation of its own.
It is moving its southern operations from Hemel Hempstead to a new 56,515 sq ft 'super-hub' at the Queen Elizabeth Distribution Park in Thurrock - a development that marks a significant moment in its 141-year history.
Handling more than 10,000 international moves each year, John Mason serves both families and businesses worldwide. The move to Thurrock is designed to strengthen the company’s position in the UK market.
The facility’s location is well located, being just 1.2 miles from the M25, 16 miles from the M11, and 11 miles from London Gateway, Britain’s deep-sea port. The site includes seven dock-level doors, four level-access doors, and dual-elevation loading, ensuring optimal access for imports and exports. From November, all southern trade groupage operates through the hub, allowing shipments to be received and dispatched directly from Thurrock.
Russell Start, CEO of AGM Group, which owns the distribution park, says: “We’re delighted to welcome John Mason International to our central logistics centre in Thurrock. This strategic location will enhance our shared logistics capacity and strengthen service synergies between our organisations.”
For John Mason International, the move represents far more than a logistical upgrade. It forms part of a dual investment strategy, alongside construction of a new headquarters in Liverpool, aimed at powering the company’s next phase of growth.
Simon Hood, Executive Director, comments: “Thurrock gives us scale, connectivity, and a facility that matches our ambition. Together with our new Liverpool HQ, this marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter.”
