Volvo Trucks has delivered 125 all-new Volvo VNL trucks to Highlight Motor Group, marking the largest order to date in Canada for Volvo’s flagship long-haul model.
The Volvo VNL 860 vehicles will strengthen Highlight Motor Group’s existing fleet, which supports long-distance operations across North America. Safety and driver comfort were key factors in the purchasing decision, particularly as the industry continues to face challenges around driver recruitment and retention. Highlight refreshes its fleet every four to five years and operates one of the youngest fleets in the sector, with Volvo trucks forming the majority.
Matthew Blackman, Managing Director Canada at Volvo Trucks North America, said the order reflects Highlight’s commitment to safety, efficiency and driver wellbeing, as well as the strength of the long-term partnership between the two companies.
The new Volvo VNL has been engineered for improved fuel efficiency, delivering up to a 10 percent gain over the previous generation through aerodynamic and powertrain enhancements. Advanced safety systems include Volvo Active Driver Assist Plus, lane keep support, pedestrian detection and automated emergency braking.
In 2025, the Volvo VNL received the Red Dot Award for Product Design in the commercial vehicles category.
