The day is intended as a celebration of the skills and dedication of all on-road moving staff and an acknowledgement of the excellent work they do. 

Last year, according to FEDEMAC, 90 organisations from 31 countries took part. In practice the total figure is likely to have been more with celebrations and acknowledgements taking place privately.   

FEDEMAC says that the day can serve many purposes in addition to recognising the skills of key employees.  It can also support advocacy efforts for professional recognition, strengthen employer branding, help attract new talent - and signal a positive message to clients and policy makers.
