London-based James Removals has strengthened its fleet with the addition of a new Volvo FH 460 Globetrotter XL 6x2 rear-steer rigid, marking a return to Volvo Trucks following a positive experience with its first vehicle from the marque in 2022.
The truck was supplied by Mark Reeves, Truck Sales Executive at MC Truck & Bus,
According to James De-Machen, owner of James Removals, the new arrival has already made a strong impression. “We’ve added this FH to replace an older model, and the improvement is noticeable across the board,” he said. “The truck is not only visually impressive but ideally tailored to the kind of work we do. The rear-steer configuration and Globetrotter XL cab have made it a standout addition, particularly for jobs that require a bit more manoeuvrability and driver comfort.”
Powered by Volvo’s D13K engine, the truck delivers 460 hp and 2,300 Nm of torque, paired with a 12-speed I-Shift automated transmission designed to optimise performance, drivability and fuel efficiency.
Inside, the Globetrotter XL cab has been specified with Volvo’s Drive+ package and includes a range of features, such as adjustable steering with neck tilt, electric air conditioning, tinted glass roof hatch, TV and microwave. Dual armrests, leather upholstery and full air suspension further enhance driver comfort.
The vehicle is completed with bodywork by Unique Van Bodies and a custom livery reflecting James Removals’ support for the ABC Book Club charity.
The new Volvo rigid also carries a personal touch, named ‘Elsie Louise’ after James’ first grandchild. This continues a family tradition, with previous trucks bearing the names of his four daughters – including one christened after Elsie’s mum, Louise, who also drives for the business – reflecting James Removals’ strong family heritage.
The truck will operate primarily across the UK, with occasional European journeys, and is expected to remain in service for around 10 years.
