Volvo Trucks has reached a major milestone: more than one million connected trucks are now operating worldwide, using digital services to maximise uptime, productivity and safety.
Modern heavy trucks are highly sophisticated, equipped with advanced software and connectivity systems comparable to those in passenger cars. Volvo’s connected services enable transport companies to optimise their operations, while ensuring vehicles remain on the road.
“Connectivity allows us to support customers in so many ways,” says Jan Hjelmgren, SVP Product Management, Volvo Trucks, “from lowering energy consumption to optimising uptime and improving safety. It’s fantastic that we now have one million connected trucks on the road.”
Volvo offers services in two key areas: Uptime and Productivity. Uptime solutions include remote monitoring, predictive maintenance, and over-the-air software updates, reducing workshop visits and unplanned downtime. Productivity services support fleet management, fuel efficiency, safety, and driver convenience.
Connectivity also fuels innovation and product development. Data gathered from connected trucks is analysed using AI and advanced methods, driving faster product development and smarter solutions.
All digital services are available through Volvo Connect, the company’s customer platform.
