Doree Bonner International celebrated a remarkable milestone in August, when Sally Saunders marked 30 years with the company.
Sally joined the business in August 1995, following a successful 14-year career at Lloyds Bank. Starting as an administrator in the domestic department, Sally quickly made her mark. “Her work ethic, eye for detail, and natural leadership qualities were evident from day one,” the company reports, “and it didn’t take long for her to rise through the ranks.”
Over the years, she’s held a variety of increasingly senior roles, including Import Manager, Group Administration Manager, and Group Personnel Manager before being appointed to the Doree Bonner Board in 2014 as Group HR Director. Today, she is responsible for HR strategy, quality standards, staff development, and compliance across the company’s network of nearly 200 employees.
Sally has played an instrumental role in the company’s expansion. From managing personnel systems during multiple acquisitions, to overseeing the implementation and auditing of the all the accreditations that Doree Bonner are proud to hold. She has also been pivotal in shaping the professional culture and operational excellence the company is known for today.
Sally also conducts staff training, supports branch managers, and has been a key figure in managing employee development and wellbeing across the Group.
“I’ve been lucky to spend 30 years with a company that truly values people’s ability and potential,” reflects Sally. “Even in what was a male-dominated industry in the early days, I’ve always felt supported and encouraged to grow. I’ve had the pleasure of working with some truly fantastic people along the way - colleagues who’ve inspired me, challenged me, and made every step of the journey worthwhile.”
Jason Herbert, Group Managing Director, adds: “Sally’s contribution over the last 30 years has been exceptional. Her professionalism, loyalty, and attention to detail have helped build the strong team culture we have today. She leads by example and is a trusted voice across the business. We’re incredibly lucky to have her.”
Geoff Watson, Co-Founder of Doree Bonner Group, shared his praise: “Sally has been an integral part of the growth and success of the Doree Bonner Group. She joined us as our very first hire after the original acquisition in 1994. Her ability was quickly recognised and her journey from administrator to HR Director has been nothing short of inspiring. She passed every challenge with flying colours and has been instrumental in shaping our training programmes and supporting industry talent through her work with the BAR. It’s a real milestone - and I’m proud to call Sally both a friend and a colleague.”
