L-Charge, a UK-based developer of ultra-fast, off-grid charging solutions, and A-1 Alternative Fuel Systems, a Californian-based leader in the design and manufacture of onboard high-pressure alternative fuel solutions, have agreed to develop advanced fuel systems for L-Charge's product portfolio.

EV (Electric Vehicle) demand in California is anticipated to experience exponential growth resulting from the mandate enacted by Governor Gavin Newsom. Coupled with this, there is additional pressure on the power grid. Continuous power shortages would be detrimental to the success of EV proliferation. As such, major automakers and oil and gas companies are looking for a way to tackle the problem.

L-Charge's mobile EV charging truck is fitted with a mini-power station that uses CNG, LNG, hydrogen or a blend of clean fuels to produce electricity onboard. The charging truck can be called to a convenient location when needed via the L-Charge app, in the same manner as ordering a taxi. The mobile charging truck generates up to 120 kW and provides ultra-fast charging – from 0% to 80% in 15-25 minutes.

Recently L-Charge announced a Californian-based production hub for their first mobile charging truck to be launched for operation in the US. In parallel, L-Charge and A-1 intend to develop hydrogen-based fuel systems for when green hydrogen scales and becomes readily available on the market.

For us, California is an ideal place to start offering our mobile charging service. On top of this, we are planning to expand our presence to other areas of the US soon, as these problems are being experienced in almost every state across the continent.”
