Regular readers know that it’s rare for me to talk about advertising. Generally, I just write the words and let others worry about the commerce.
But this month we have some new advertisers and I wanted to welcome them to our world, thank them for their leap of faith (a feature of all promotional activity), and wish them well. The Mover is the world’s only independent publication for the moving and relocation industry. That’s what makes it unique and gives it its distinctive character – its edge. But it does mean that it receives no funding from anyone other than the advertisers. The downside of independence is that there is no safety net. Without our advertisers we cannot exist. So, thank you.
It's even less common for me to drift into sales mode. But sometimes I think it’s worth a little trumpet blowing just so that people appreciate what we are doing here. As a global, digital publication, The Mover is open for anyone to read, not just a restricted membership group, so it has a huge readership. I suspect it’s bigger than all the other publications combined but, as I don’t have all the statistics, I can’t say for sure. I do know that, through all our channels, we have around 40,000 contacts every month. In a small industry, that’s enormous.
The channels are: the digital magazine itself, that is available via the website www.themover.co.uk; the website, that carries all the stories and provides a unique search facility giving access to everything we have written in the last 13 years; the monthly newsletter that carries a handful of the key features and provides links to the full publication; the Apps for Apple and Android that push the magazine directly to your phone every month; and our social media channels. Anyone advertising or providing editorial to The Mover is promoted through all these outlets automatically. It’s a lot more than just a magazine.
People often ask how to get their story published in The Mover. The answer is deceptively simple. Just send it to me: steve@themover.co.uk. It costs nothing, and you will never be pressed to advertise. If you need help writing it, just send me the bones of the story and I’ll do the rest. If you would like to write it in your own language, that’s OK too.
This magazine is a unique resource for the whole industry. Please use it, support it and, most importantly, enjoy it.
